My 1.9 turbo diesel fiat stilo returns far better fuel economy than I could have ever hoped for in my previous 1.2 petrol fiat 500 as it does not have to work as hard and is far easier to drive. Ford and Vauxhall make excellent cars and it is wrong to make recommendations based on your own limited experience of the odd car. They are reliable, fairly inexpensive to buy, reasonable to insure and are easy to repair if they do go wrong.
